Kathleen Mellen’s Best Bests

Is it possible that it’s been 45 years since The Doors rocked the Hollywood Bowl? Movie cameras were rolling on July 5, 1968, when the band took the stage, and the result has been hailed as the best Doors performance ever captured on film. A new digitally remastered version, “The Doors Live at the Bowl e_SSRq68,” will be screened Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy of Music in Northampton. It includes interviews with the band and songs not in the original version. $6. 584-9032, ext. 105, or www.academyofmusictheatre.com.

Elizabeth Solley Caine’s “One Side of the Mountain” is on view through Feb. 3 at the Oxbow Gallery, 275 Pleasant St., Northampton. The centerpiece alone is worth a visit: It’s an 8-foot-by-9-foot painting of the main cathedral group of the Grand Tetons. And don’t miss Cyndy Sperry’s exhibit in the Back Room. Tuesdays through Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. 586-6300, www.oxbowgallery.com
