Laurie Loisel’s best bets

“Nashville,” ABC’s feisty and smart contribution to the fall TV lineup, premiered this week, and definitely has hit potential. It’s got family drama, political and music industry intrigue, and good music, sung by the actors themselves, that has crossover appeal. The dialogue and story line are entertaining and the acting ensemble, led by the fabulous Connie Britton, is stellar. Can’t think of a more entertaining way to take a midweek breather on the couch. Wednesdays, 10 p.m., ABC.

Tonight is the opening reception for an exhibit highlighting Young@Heart’s 30 years performing. The show features pictures, posters, videos and costumes documenting the group’s development and the far-flung places it’s performed. Curator is chorus director Bob Cilman’s daughter, Stella Cilman. She had to do historical research, of course, since the chorus is 10 years older than she is. Hosmer Gallery at Northampton’s Forbes Library. Reception 5-8 p.m. The show runs through Oct. 31.
