Thursday’s high schools: Smith Academy walks off with 6-5 win over South Hadley

The Smith Academy baseball team scored three runs in the seventh to walk off with a 6-5 win over South Hadley, Thursday in Hatfield.

Michael Basset had two hits and two RBIs for the Falcons (1-1) as Smith Academy scored three runs in the seventh inning to win over South Hadley.

Liam Pitrat struck out four in the complete-game win.

Sean Doyle and Jake Roux each had two RBIs, while Evan Levrault had three hits and one RBI for the Tigers (0-2).

Easthampton 11, Hopkins Academy 9 — Justin Colpack (two hits) and Lance Parrish (four walks) each had three RBIs for the Eagles (1-1) in the home win. Zack Kugler and Nathan Morse each had two hits as well.

John Earle and Jon Morrison (five RBIs) each had two hits and two runs scored for the Golden Hawks (1-1). Morrison had a grand slam in the fourth inning.

Northampton 8, Amherst Regional 2 — A two-run double from the Hurricanes’ J.B. Mills tied the game in the top of the fifth, but the Blue Devils answered with four runs to take control.

Tristen Szawlawski finished the game with three RBIs, while RJ Safron went 2-for-4 and finished with two RBIs.

Hampshire Regional 3, Monson 2 — Mike Baldwin and Mike Hurd each had one hit and one RBI for the Red Raiders on the road at Monson.

John Carey struck out four and allowed three hits over five innings for the win.

Belchertown 7, Mahar 5 — The Orioles scored four runs in the seventh to rally for the win in Orange.

Zack Hohnet had three hits and two RBIs, while Victor Camerota had two hits and one RBI for Belchertown.

Zach Jenks struck out four and walked none over six innings for the win. Ryan French struck out one for the save.

Frontier Regional 13, Mohawk 0 — The Red Hawks (2-0) scored five runs in the first inning to take control on the road.

Connor Waitkus had three hits and three RBIs, while Matt Hildreth, Kalen Evans, Kiernan Freeman, Jacob Bryant (two RBIs) and Cam Barnes each had two.

Dylan Appanel struck out eight over four innings for the win.

Softball

Frontier Regional 17, Amherst Regional 0 (5) — Olivia Deane struck out five, walked two and allowed no hits as the Red Hawks cruised in Amherst.

Kenzie Patterson was 4-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs. Lily Spencer, Kelsey Jarvis, Ariana Walker (three RBIs) and Deane each had two hits. Charlotte Doulette homered in the win.

Ally Smith and Jahfreeya Peters drew walks for Amherst.

Greenfield 12, Belchertown 0 (5) — Samantha Mann had the one hit for the Orioles (1-4) as Greenfield scored five runs in the fourth inning to win at Belchertown.

Mohawk 11, South Hadley 8 — Abby Edge and Jaiden Plamondon each had three hits for the Tigers (2-1) in the road loss.

Mikhaila Edge, Maddie Fontaine and Brooke Conner each had two hits.

Boys Lacrosse

Amherst 13, West Springfield 7 — Dimitris Son had four goals and Ty Borrell added three as the Hurricanes won on the road.

Will Borrell (assist) had two goals, while Dominic MacDonald (assist), Luca LaRaja (two assists) and Declan Gray-Mullen (assist) each had one.

Willy Wright had three assists and Jonathan Cruz Rodriguez made 12 saves in the win.

Westfield 9, Northampton 6 — Tied 5-5 entering the fourth, the Bombers outscored the Blue Devils (1-3) 4-1 to win at home.

Ryan Heng had 13 saves for Northampton. Tyler Allcroft and Jake Delisle each finished with two goals. Henry Attias and Jameson Miller each had one goal and one assist.

Mike McCarthy finished with one assist.

Girls Lacrosse

Amherst Regional 10, Belchertown 8 — Malia MacDonald finished with four goals and two assists as the Hurricanes (4-1) won on the road.

Tea LaRaja finished with three goals and one assist while Jane O’Connell had two goals and Milina Kern one goal. Cleo Hein had nine saves in the win

Emily Saybell-Wimmer had two stops for the Orioles (1-2). Tess Gadoury had three goals and one assist, while Morgan Mathurin added two goals. Quinn Roche had one goal and one assist, while Kate Wrona and Clair Baceski each had one goal.

South Hadley 13, Granby 8 — Kera Murphy (assist) and Corryn Moroney (assist) each had three goals, while Julia Miele (assist) and Bre Foley (two assists) scored two apiece as the Tigers rolled at home.

Jillian Whalen had a goal and an assist, while Alyson Cote made 10 saves in the win.

Boys volleyball

East Longmeadow 3, Belchertown 0 — Nathan Bresnahan had a team-high four kills but the Orioles (2-4) fell at home 25-21, 25-23, 28-26.

Ethan Lafleur and Nathan Wright each finished with three aces, while Connor LaFlamme had 12 assist in the setback.
