Thursday’s HS tennis/track: Northampton freshman Stefan Johnson No. 2 seed at WMass Individuals

The Western Massachusetts Individual Tennis Tournaments begin this weekend.

Both the boys and girls singles matches open Saturday at 8:45 a.m. at Longmeadow Tennis Courts. Play will continue at 8:45 p.m. on Sunday. Boys and girls doubles will start Sunday.

The tournament will continue May 19-20.

In boys singles, Northampton freshman Stefan Johnson is the No. 2 seed behind Will Chen of Longmeadow.

Northampton sophomore Aiden O’Brien is the sixth seed with freshman James Serhant, of Amherst Regional, the eighth seed.

In boys doubles, Amherst’s Nathan Ji and Andrew Ni are the second seed behind Longmeadow’s top pair of Andam Katz and Ben Griffiths.

Northampton as the third and fifth seeds in Chris Raphael-Reily and Jack Denhart, and Asa Geller and Matt Skrzynski, respectively.

Michael Laughner and Nolan Vogel, of Belchertown is the fourth seed.

In girls singles, Amherst’s Margaret O’Connell is the fifth seed.
