Thursday’s high school sports: Anna Kerwood Ks 12 for Northampton softball in win over Belchertown

Anna Kerwood struck out 12 and allowed just two hits, as the Northampton softball team beat Belchertown 12-0 in five innings at home Thursday.

Calista Lebron hit a three-run homer, and Zoe Driscol-Sbar had a solo home run for the Blue Devils (6-1, 1-0 Valley Wheel).

Northampton scored four runs in the third inning and seven in the fourth to put the game away.

Lexi Lajuenese and Lauren LeBlanc had hits for Belchertown (1-5, 0-1).

Turners Falls 6, Frontier Regional 2 — Sarah Meunier hit a two-run homer in the first inning, but the Red Hawks couldn’t muster nay more offense in a home loss.

Emma Wesoloski struck out five on the mound for Frontier (0-3, 0-2 Franklin).

Mount Greylock 8, Granby 1 — Kate Sullivan hit a sacrifice fly to give the Rams their run in the sixth inning.

Emily Sawyer and Lindsay Wenzel had hits for Granby (1-5).

Hampshire Regional 9, West Springfield 2 — Brielle Bergeron went 3 for 4 with a three-run homer for the Raiders.

Katy O’Connor added two hits and two RBIs of her own.

Emily Halket struck out eight with just one walk in the circle to get the win for Hampshire (5-0).

Ludlow 16, Amherst 2 — Megan Rice went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and picked up the loss (6 innings, 13 hits, 12 BB, 5 K) for Amherst (0-4).

Agawam 13, South Hadley 0 — Abby Edge and Maddie Fontaine accounted for all four Tiger hits with two singles apiece.

Nicole Niemiec (6 innings, 18 hits, 13 runs, 3 K) took the loss for South Hadley (0-5).

Pioneer 18, Hopkins 4 —Olivia Brighenti was 1-for-3 with an RBI single, while Kelsey Bushey went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Allison Markowski picked up the loss, walking six and striking out four for the Golden Hawks (2-3).

Baseball

Greenfield 2, Hampshire Regional 0 — Noah Batchelder struck out two and didn’t allow a walk on the mound, hit a double and stole a base in the Raiders’ home loss.

Max Weir had a hit, walked and stole a base Ben Fitzpatrick was 2-for-3 for Hampshire (1-4).

Mohawk 11, Smith Vocational 5 — Matt Hewes went 1-for-2 with an RBI double. He drew two walks, stole two bases, and scored a run.

Pitcher Jack O’Connell picked up the loss, going four innings with three walks and eight hits. He struck out two.
