Replies to letter writer about existence of God

A letter writer says that there is not a shred of evidence that there is a God, or that this supposed God created us (“No evidence that deity created us,” May 1).

That is an interesting absolute claim that requires the one making the claim to have absolute complete knowledge of everything in the universe. In other words, it is a claim to be God, and thus it is a self-refuting statement. So I assume the writer’s claim is that he personally is not aware of any evidence supporting the existence of God.

I have two questions for the writer: Specifically what evidence would you accept as proof there is a creator God? And, if I present that evidence to you, will you accept God both as existing and as your lord (the one who makes the rules)?
