Repaving job to cause I-91 delays

NORTHAMPTON — Two projects on I-91 will mean occasional delays for Hampshire County drivers through 2018, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

Resurfacing and related work between Deerfield and Northampton started last month and is expected to continue until fall 2018. The $10.8-million project will result in temporary lane and exit closures from south of the new I-91 Deerfield River bridges to just south of Exit 21 at various stages of the project.

The second project — $13.3 million in resurfacing and other work between Easthampton and Northampton — will likely be completed this fall. Much of that work will not affect traffic because it is being done behind a cement barrier and outside of lanes, according to MassDOT.

The transportation department said that more information on travel impacts will be provided as it becomes available.
