Police ID victim in fatal Route 9 crash

NORTHAMPTON — Massachusetts State Police identified Daron Reynolds, 31, of Cheshire as the victim of a fatal Route 9 crash Monday afternoon.

Reynolds was the passenger of a 2013 Toyota Camry that was struck head-on by a 2000 Acura 32TL, which crossed over into oncoming traffic around 1:45 p.m. Monday at the Windsor / Cummington line.

Reynolds was transported to Berkshire Medical Center and transferred to Baystate Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Three were hospitalized following the crash, including a female toddler. The 23-year-old driver of the Toyota, the 27-year-old driver of the Acura, as well as a female toddler passenger from the Acura were hospitalized with serious injuries at Berkshire Medical Center and then transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police, with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section and the Office of the Medical Examiner.

No charges were filed as of Monday evening at 9:01 p.m.
