Reminder that stop signs are on bike trail

I am a frequent user of both the bike trail and my car. It appears to me that drivers/users of both of these are not aware of the rules of either.

The bike trail is now equipped with stop signs at every road it crosses and that is were the trouble begins. I can’t say how many times I have approached a trail crossing only to have cars stopped to allow bike trail traffic to cross. On the surface this appears to be a “nice” thing to do. However, it is extremely dangerous and creates confusion to both road and trail users.

The stop sign is on the bike trail, not on the road. When cars are stopped to allow bikers/walkers to cross, it creates a dangerous situation for drivers who are not expecting to stop in the middle of a road were there is no stop sign. The stop signs are on the bike trail and that is were those users need to obey the trail rules.

Parents, please teach your children how to properly use the bike trail, such as alerting others that they are passing/approaching with a very loud “passing on the right.”
