Thanks community support for Adult Spelling Bee

On behalf of the Northampton Education Foundation, I would like to thank our community for supporting Northampton Public Schools by attending and participating in the 17th annual Adult Spelling Bee on March 29.

Each year, new people are inspired to donate their money and time in an event that heralds the coming of spring and generates funding for small grants to our city’s public school teachers. With costumes, humor and competitive spellers, the bee provides a colorful evening of purposeful entertainment and camaraderie.

We specifically want to thank Easthampton Savings Bank for underwriting the bee for almost two decades and applaud its commitment to local communities. Thanks to the Daily Hampshire Gazette Headliners team for participating with valor each year, coming in a respectable second place this year to the Triskaidekaphiles, sponsored by Smith College Campus School (“Triskaidekaphiles triumph,” March 30).

If you missed the bee, you can see photos of friends and neighbors on the Northampton Education Foundation’s Facebook page, and donate to this important fund at northamptoneducation.org, or visit the websites of WHMP and NCTV whose broadcasts share the fun and spread the word about this essential cause.
