Amherst

Derek Sederman received the American Association of Physics Teachers’ Learning Assistant Prize at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, where he is a physics and chemistry major and member of the class of 2019.

Johann Becker received a president’s student excellence award at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island, where he is a student in the College of Ocean Engineering.

Ashfield

Noah Dirks was awarded the Steven J. Ross Prize for the best undergraduate film, digital, and/or virtual made in the Department of Film Studies at Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut. Dirks formerly attended The Academy At Charlemont.

Belchertown

Brooke Kulik graduated from Lasell College in Newton. Kulik majored in resort and casino management.

Sarah LaClair graduated from Lasell College in Newton.

Easthampton

Paige Czarnik received a bachelor’s degree from Curry College in Milton.

Florence

Byron Poplawski, who attended Northampton High School, has graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. He will begin work in July as a supervisory development analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Hadley

Monica Xing received the Bertram Louis Smith Jr. Prize at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, where she is an English and biochemistry major, and psychology minor, class of 2019.

Kendall Jansen, class of 2021, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

Sophia Valentini was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Emmanuel College in Boston.

Hatfield

Derek McMahon graduated from Lasell College in Newton.

Huntington

Lauren Chapdelaine was inducted into Psi Chi National Honor Society at Assumption College in Worcester, where she is a member of the class of 2019.

Northampton

Antonio Campedelli received the Robert M. Fuller Sophomore Prize at Union College in Schenectady, New York, where he is a member of the class of 2020. The prize is given to the sophomore who demonstrates outstanding work, ability and promise in chemistry.

Whately

Taylor Kloc received the Excellence in Political Science Award at Western New England University in Springfield.

Northeastern University

The following local students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at the university in Boston:

Amherst: Maxwell Hopley, majoring in business administration; Isabel Tripp, majoring in computer science; Ling Li, majoring in bioengineering; Jacob Kaplan, majoring in electrical and computer engenering; Sonia Posner, undeclared, and Anna Sciaruto, majoring in environmental studies.

Easthampton: Tess McCallum, majoring in communication studies; Taylor Dadmun, majoring in political science

Florence: Sophia Renauld, majoring in biomedical physics; Loren Po, majoring in chemistry.

Hatfield: Christopher Mahir, majoring in biochemistry.

Northampton: Charles Denhart, majoring in economics.

South Hadley: Stephen E. D. Zhou, majoring in electrical and computer engineering.

Southampton: Claire Williams, majoring in biochemistry, and Anna Moore, majoring in biology.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute

The following local residents were named to the spring semester dean’s list at WPI in Worcester:

Chesterfield:Brandon Weyant, class of 2020 majoring in electrical and computer engineering, and mechanical engineering.

Florence: Nicholas Day, class of 2019 majoring in civil engineering.

Granby: Justin Garon, class of 2020 majoring in electrical and computer engineering.
