Friday’s college hockey: UMass falls at Maine

The UMass hockey team fell behind by two goals after the first period and never recovered Friday.

The Minutemen fell to Maine, 4-1, at Alfond Arena leaving UMass in last place in Hockey East by itself at 2-10-1 (5-18-2 overall).

William Lagesson had the lone goal for UMass in the second period.

It was UMass’ sixth straight loss.

The teams play again tonight in Orono at 7 p.m.

Amherst 2, Wesleyan 2 (OT) — Austin Ho and Thomas Lindstrom scored but Amherst (11-3-2, 6-3-2 NESCAC) settled for the draw at Orr Rink.

Connor Girard made 29 saves in defeat.

Women’s hockey

Amherst 1, Williams 1 (OT) — Alex Toupal scored a power-play goal in the third period as Amherst (9-5-3, 5-3-3 NESCAC) pulled out a point in Williamstown.
