Sunday, November 05, 2017

AGAWAM (AP) — The 11-year-old boy struck and killed by a vehicle as he tried to cross a Massachusetts street has been identified as the son of a firefighter.

The Agawam Fire Department announced on Facebook that Braedyn Collins was the son of city call firefighter Sean Collins.

Police say Braedyn was struck at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Agawam Superintendent Steve Lemanski tells WGGB-TV the boy was a student at Roberta Doering Middle School and the school is bringing in grief counselors Wednesday.

Lisa Collins Callahan, Braedyn’s aunt, tells The Republican newspaper that her nephew was an “amazing soul” who loved to wrestle, ride his bike, and play video games.

The death remains under investigation and no one has been charged.
