PLAY IT AGAIN
“Casablanca,” starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, is one of my favorite movies, and I’ve seen it more times than I can count. I’ll get two more chances when Amherst Cinema shows the 1942 film on Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. and Aug. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The action takes place during World War II, and as the German presence increases in a chaotic Casablanca, nightclub owner Rick (Bogart) tries to pretend he doesn’t give a hoot, about the Nazis or anything else. But then, of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into his, and everything changes.
ANOTHER GOOD BET
At noon on Aug. 10, Amherst Cinema presents “Film School in 60 Minutes,” a talk by filmmaker Nina Kleinberg who will walk the audience through the making of “Casablanca.” www.amherstcinema.org
