NORTHAMPTON — An unidentified man threw his ice cream in the direction of staff at Herrell’s Ice Cream when he was asked to leave after he and a woman allegedly caused a disturbance Friday night at 10:38 p.m.

Detective Patrick Moody said staff at the 8 Old South St. ice cream shop reported the incident to police.

The ice cream did not hit any staff, but landed on the floor behind the counter, he said.

Staff told police the man first started yelling at them after he was asked to close the door because the shop’s air conditioning was on.

The woman he was with also started yelling at staff, they told police.

At that point, they were told to leave with their ice cream, even though they had not paid yet, Moody said.

The man and woman left, Moody said, but then the man returned and threw his ice cream behind the counter before leaving again.
