AMHERST — An intoxicated 16-year-old boy who fell down a staircase at Brandywine Apartments and suffered minor injuries was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton early Saturday morning. No one was charged in connection with the incident, police said.

Detective Michael Forcum said police responded to the apartments off North Pleasant Street at 12:31 a.m. for a report of a loud party and people throwing bottles off the balcony. When officers got there, they found the youth with blood around his mouth in the parking lot and summoned an Amherst Fire Department ambulance to take him to the hospital for further evaluation, Forcum said. The boy’s father was notified.

Forcum said the boy was one of about 15 people at the party, with many of those at the gathering appearing to be under 21.

A tenant was issued a warning for violating the town’s noise bylaw but advised she could be subject to arrest if police return to her home, Forcum said.
