NORTHAMPTON — A 20-year-old West Boylston man pleaded not guilty in Hampshire Superior Court on Tuesday to a charge of intimidation of a witness, resulting from an incident in which he allegedly threatened a probation officer.

A Hampshire County grand jury indicted Harris on the charge July 29 and he was held before Tuesday’s arraignment.

According to the indictment, Harris allegedly threatened and intimidated Rafael Rodriguez, a probation officer in Eastern Hampshire District Court, on July 9 in Belchertown with the intent to impede or interfere with a criminal proceeding. No other details of the case were available Tuesday.

Harris is being held on $10,000 cash bail or $100,000 personal surety in the Hampshire County House of Correction. He requested a new lawyer at his arraignment and is scheduled to appear back in court Sept. 2 to determine who will represent him.
