Local baseball: Hadley 11U Ripken moves into state final

The Hadley Cal Ripken 11-and-under team scored the tying run in the fourth and took the lead with a pair in the fifth to defeat Northbridge 5-3 in the state semifinals Monday evening in Uxbridge.

Justin Masteralexis, Noah Scanlon-Dean and Nick Foster hit solo home runs for Hadley (4-1). Thea Hanscom, Quentin Moliterno and Kouji Ishida had hits in the fifth-inning rally.

Scanlon-Dean came on in the fourth and allowed no runs on two hits with three strikeouts in the final 22/3 innings.

Hadley will play Milford in the championship game Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Uxbridge.

Tri-County Playoffs

Easthampton Savings Bank 7, Teddy Bear Pools 4 — Brandon Kubic had two hits and knocked in two runs to help lead ESB (12-8-1) to a road victory in Game 1 of the best-of-3 quarterfinal series.

Dan Wigham (double) and Chris Starcun (single) each had an RBI in a five-run first inning. Drew Dombkowski added a pair of hits.

Matt Dziok (five innings, one strikeout) and Anthony Nomakeo (two innings) scattered 13 hits in the win.

Tom Malooly had a game-high four hits with two RBIs for Teddy Bear (13-9), while Zach Bartak (RBI), Justin Carey and Corey Shearer added two apiece.

Easthampton Savings will go for the sweep at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at Daley Field.
