To the editor:
A June 30 letter-writer speaks the truth about a Southampton override, which failed at the polls Tuesday. You can’t get blood from a stone, except in the case that you raise property taxes so high that those on limited budgets, the elderly and town employees, can no longer afford to live in town. The current system of funding schools, because it is based on a regressive tax, is a form of elitism.
