To the editor:

On behalf of many, I wish to thank Clare Higgins and members of the Community Action board for recognizing the Free Harvest Supper Organizing Committee with an award at a recent annual breakfast at Deerfield Academy.

Members of the committee are honored to be able to contribute to Community Action’s powerful work. It was wonderful to learn more about Community Action and to meet many of the people who support our community.

We greatly appreciate Clare Higgins’ leadership, as well as the compassion, savvy, skill, knowledge and social justice perspective she brings to her work in our community.

Dino Schnelle does a superb job of supporting the Free Harvest Supper, especially in helping our group channel funds we raise through the supper into the Farmers’ Market Coupon Program.

As an ad hoc group of community members, we would not be able to have as great an impact if it weren’t for the support of Dino and Sara Cummings and their colleagues at Community Action.

Thank you for helping our work on the supper spread far beyond a tasty meal on the Greenfield Town Common.
