The Northampton Senior Center’s Strengthening and Stretching class is now offered at a new time: 8:45 to 9:45 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Feb. 4.

The program will continue on the following dates February 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25 and 27. The fee for this class is $30 for Northampton residents 60 and over. For nonresidents or anyone age 55-59, the fee is $35. Drop-in fee is $4 per session for Northampton residents, or $5 for nonresidents or those under 60.

Valley Medical Group’s Amherst support group, to held Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., features a guest speaker, Dr. Stuart Chipkin. An endocrinologist at Valley Medical Group, he will discuss “Understanding and How to Prevent the Onset of Diabetes Related Complications.”

A free information session for those considering total hip or knee replacement will be held March 20 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.

Nurse Anne Ridgeback will discuss what the surgeries entail and who is a good candidate, as well as the risks and benefits.

“Beyond Birth: A Gathering of New Parents and their Babies,” a support program for parents of babies up to four months of age, is offered Thursday, 1 to 3 p.m., at Cooley Dickinson Center for Midwifery Care.

The free group, led by a facilitator, includes discussion of anything related to being a parent and to caring for a baby, including sleeping, breast and bottle feeding, vaccines, and more.
