AMHERST — The Amherst-Pelham Regional School District’s director of finance and operations is on a paid administrative leave
Superintendent Maria Geryk said in an email Friday that Robert Detweiler, who has served as head of the business office since 2005, is on leave with pay, but offered no specifics about when his leave began or how long it would last.
Geryk said she is confident that the business office will continue to function smoothly.
“The business office is staffed with exceptional, veteran support personnel, so this transition has occurred seamlessly,” Geryk said.
During Detweiler’s absence, his responsibilities will be covered by Sean Mangano, the assistant director of the business office, Geryk said. This will include oversight of the current budget and the proposed fiscal year 2015 budget for Amherst Regional High School, Amherst Regional Middle School and Pelham Elementary School, as well as capital planning.
Paul Carlson, a former business manager who retired and was succeeded by Detweiler, is working two days a week in the office to keep up with continuing mandated state and federal reporting functions, Geryk said. Carlson could remain on through June 30, she said.
Human Resources Director Kathryn Mazur is overseeing the business office on a temporary basis, Geryk said.
Detweiler did not return a message left at his home in Deerfield seeking comment.
