The University of Massachusetts hockey team scored two late goals to force overtime, but skated to a 3-3 draw with Boston University at home on Friday.
Trailing 3-1 midway through the third period, Conor Sheary cut the Minutemen’s deficit in half with an even-strength goal at 12:35.
Ray Pigozzi then netted the tying goal with 50 seconds left in regulation.
The Minutemen (7-16-4, 3-8-4 Hockey East) got down early but Branden Gracel (one assist) tied the game at 1-1 on the power play at 19:06 in the first period.
Steven Iacobelli, Joel Hanley and Colin Shea all picked up assists.
UMass outshot the Terriers (8-14-3, 3-8-2) 49-21 as Steve Mastalerz made 19 stops in net for the Minutemen.
Colby 80, Amherst 75 — Aaron Toomey scored 26 points and Ben Pollack collected a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds, but the effort wasn’t enough as the third-ranked Lord Jeffs (16-3, 5-1 NESCAC) saw their 25-game conference win streak end on the road.
Amherst Regional 67, Colby 44 — Ali Doswell had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the 12th-ranked Lord Jeffs (18-2, 5-1 NESCAC) to the road victory.
Meredith Doswell and Jaime Renner each scored 13 points in the win.
