Tuesday’s college recaps: Amherst College breezes past Wesleyan

Hannah Peterson had a game-high 28 points as the Amherst College women’s basketball team cruised past Wesleyan, 72-49, in Middletown, Conn., Tuesday night.

Peterson shot 9 for 15 from the floor, including 7 for 12 from 3-point range.

Jaimie Renner had 15 points, including 13 in the second half, while Marley Giddins added nine points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the 12th-ranked Lord Jeffs (17-2).

Jenna Klaes (Amherst Regional) had four assists and three rebounds for the Cardinals (11-6).

Women’s hockey

Norwich 2, Amherst 1 — Emily Flom scored, while Caitlyn Ryan and Eileen Harris each had one assist but the ninth-ranked Lord Jeffs (9-4-3) fell at home.
