HATFIELD — More than 16 hours after a southbound tractor-trailer loaded with cabbage went off Interstate 91 near Exit 21 early Monday, the vehicle and its contents were removed from the scene.
A state police trooper at the Northampton barracks said the tractor-trailer, which crashed around 3 a.m., was towed between 7:30 and 8 p.m. For most of the day, traffic traveling southbound was merged into one lane as state police attempted to get the tractor-trailer upright.
It was also time consuming to remove the cabbage from the tractor-trailer and the road, according to state police.
The accident is believed to have been due to slick road conditions caused by overnight rain, police said.
