EASTHAMPTON — With strings of holiday lights draped in the trees, the downtown is dressed to impress for the annual Holiday Stroll at 7 p.m. Friday.

The strollers, many singing carols, will step off from the Maple Street School and continue on Cottage, Union and Main streets to the gazebo in Pulaski Park. “Then we’ll await the arrival of Santa,” said Eric Snyder, executive director of the Greater Easthampton Chamber of Commerce.

Santa Claus is expected to arrive on a fire truck at the Main Street rotary to turn on the holiday lights for the park’s gazebo and visit with children, Snyder said. There will also be hot chocolate and cookies for the children.

Hampshire Regional High School senior Brianna Weltlich of Southampton, who was named Greater Easthampton Distinguished Young Woman on Nov. 24, will lead the stroll.

Snyder estimated that last year’s event was attended by over 500 people.
