Weekend Planner — Music: Pioneer Valley Symphony presents holiday concert Saturday

This year augmented by the voices of some 100 children from Greenfield Public School choirs, the Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra and Chorus’ annual Family Holiday Concert will include Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols,” a setting of nine medieval texts for chorus and harp; “A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas” by contemporary American composer Craig Courtney; a medley of holiday songs punctuated by a visit from Santa; “Jubilee and Noel” by George W. Chadwick; plus the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s “Messiah.”

7 p.m. Saturday at Greenfield High School. $20 general; $17 seniors; $6 students and children. Note: due to ongoing construction at the high school, PVS has arranged from free shuttle buses to pick up concertgoers at the Cherry Rum parking lot and at Greenfield Middle School parking lot starting at 6 p.m. 773-3664, pvsoc.org
