“A shadowed and rapid ‘Macbeth,’ with lightning transitions from scene to scene performed in one headlong stretch” (The Sydney Morning Herald), Kenneth Branagh’s recent turn as the Scottish king “evoked golden memories of Olivier in the role” (The Guardian) and was, “like Mr. Branagh’s most appealing film, ‘Henry V,’ a crowd pleaser in the best sense” (The New York Times). Staged last year as part of the Manchester International Festival, the production ran for only 18 sold-out shows but is now on view around the world as part of the National Theatre Live series of HD broadcasts. Final showings at Amherst Cinema, 28 Amity St., Amherst, are Saturday at 1 p.m. and Thurs., Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. $24. Reservations recommended. amherstcinema.org
