Police investigate break-ins

Break-ins to an Amherst home and two vehicles on the night of Feb. 8 are being investigated by police.

The first incident was reported at 8:45 p.m. when a Woodside Avenue resident told police a television set was stolen from his apartment.

Detective Richard MacLean said there were no signs of forced entry to the home.

At 9:36 p.m., Lincoln Avenue residents reported two vehicles outside their home were entered. In one, a backpack was taken from an unlocked vehicle, MacLean said, while in the second a window was smashed to remove a purse left on the seat.

Though the distance between the house and car break-ins is not significant, MacLean said police don't yet know if they are connected.

The following day beer and personal belongings were stolen from a vehicle parked on North Pleasant Street that was reported broken into Friday at 1:41 a.m., police said. No forced entry was evident, according to police.
