Restroom incident leads to arrest

A man using a bathroom at a downtown bar early on the morning of Feb. 6 was arrested following a confrontation with another patron, police said.

Amherst Police Detective David Foster said officers were called to The Spoke on East Pleasant Street after a patron allegedly knocked on the door of the occupied bathroom and the man using it, later identified as Brendan Kuntz, 24, of South Hadley, came out and held a razor against the patron's neck.

The victim was not injured, Foster said.

Kuntz fled on foot and was picked up by a vehicle. After determining his identity, police went to a McClellan Street home and at 3:09 a.m. placed Kuntz under arrest on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, police said.
