Amanda Calvo knocked down a 3-pointer from the corner with 8 seconds left as the Frontier girls basketball team survived a scare from Mohawk Trail 36-35 in Buckland on Tuesday night.

The Red Hawks (9-7, 9-6, Franklin South) moved to within one win of qualifying for the postseason with the victory and officially eliminated the Warriors (3-11, 3-11, Franklin North) from contention.

Calvo finished with nine points, while Courtney Parent scored a game-high 13 points.

Parent had 11 points and Kacey Roberts added nine but the Red Hawks fell 47-27 to Easthampton on Feb. 3.

Boys basketball

Three players scored in double digits and Ryan Hoar notched 15 rebounds to help the Red Hawks (14-2, 13-2 Hampshire West) beat Mohawk 49-39 Monday.

Justin Mieczkowski had 11 points, while Hoar and Nate Perret each had 10 points.

The Hawks overcame a five-point deficit starting the fourth quarter to pick up the 51-47 win over Easthampton on Feb. 2.

Danny Kieras had 14 points, while Paul Decker and Perret added 13 apiece.

Hockey

Turners Falls scored a big victory Monday, beating Greenfield 3-1 at Collins-Moylan Rink in Greenfield. The Indians (7-9) needed the win to keep their hopes of a postseason berth alive.

Keegan Downey (assist) scored twice, while Trevor Peduzzi had one goal.

Cullen Wozniak, Christian Sawicki and Cody Booska each had one assist. Jack Powers made 25 saves in the win.

Wrestling

Marc Saulnier (138 pounds) and Ben McGranaghan (100) placed third, while Chris Toomey (195) was fourth as the Red Hawks trio all qualified for the state Division 3 tournament with solid performances Satuday in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 Tournament at Pioneer Regional in Northfield.
