Alvin A. Gover, jack-of-all-trades
WILLISTON, Vt. - Alvin Archie Gover, of Williston Vt., was born at his family's home in Williston on Oct. 4, 1943, to Roy and Isabelle (Snide) Gover. He passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Jan. 23, 2012, in Williston.
A lifetime resident of Williston, Alvin was a jack-of-all-trades. He was the go-to person for many family members and friends. Alvin was an avid race car fan and driver at Catamount. He passed this passion on to his many nephews, including Dean Dextraze of Chicopee and Dwayne Dextraze of Holyoke.
Alvin's career included owning and operating his own excavating business. He also worked at Pine Ridge School as head of maintenance for 17 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Aymer (Sonny) Gover, and his nephew, Dick Dextraze.
He is survived by his partner, Hazel Winter, and his daughter, Veronica (Peter) Beauregard of Williston. He will be greatly missed by his relatives in this area, including his sister, Arlene (Leo) Dextraze; nephews Donald, Dean, Dwayne and Dennis; and nieces, Dale Fee (Joe Laforte), Dianne (Gary) Galvagni and Dolores (Alan) Auclair.
A funeral mass was held Jan. 27 in Burlington, Vt.
