Friday' basketball games: Easthampton girls cruise past Frontier

The Easthampton girls basketball moved into a virtual tie for first place in the Franklin South with a 47-27 win over Frontier Regional, Friday in South Deerfield.

Elizabeth Whitney's 15 points and 15 rebounds paced the Eagles (13-3, 10-3 Franklin South), who are one-game back of Hopkins Academy (11-5, 11-3) in the win column.

Haley Domina added nine points on three 3-pointers for Easthampton, which outscored Frontier 16-1 in the second quarter.

Courtney Parent led the Red Hawks (8-7, 8-6) with 11 points, while Kacey Roberts had nine.

Belchertown 63, Sci-Tech 25 - Marissa Kopacz notched a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds as the Orioles (8-7) moved back over .500 with the win at home.

Téa Spellacy scored a game-high 13 points in the victory, while Stephanie Dufresne added eight for Belchertown, which has won seven of its last nine.

Granby 57, Putnam 19 - The Rams (12-3) had nine different scorers in the home victory, with three of them reaching double figures.

Brooke Labrie scored a game-high 11 points with four steals for Granby, while Casey Imelio and Rebecca Sapoukey each added 10 points apiece. Imelio's was a career high.

Gateway Regional 45 Smith Vocational 16 - Led by Paige Fairman (10 points), the Gators (13-1, 13-0 Tri-County) handily defeated the Vikings (2-12, 2-9) in Northampton.

Megan Shain had eight points for Smith.

Smith Academy 44, Mohawk Trail 23 - Alyssa Klepacki (11 points, 14 rebounds) had a double-double and Katie Yagodzinski chipped in with 10 points to lead the Falcons (8-7, 7-7 Franklin South) over the Warriors.

South Hadley 53, McCann Tech 25 - Tess Gauthier (nine points) helped the Tigers (7-6) remain unbeaten at home with the win over the Hornets (4-9).

Janelle Seitz had eight points, while Kara Callahan chipped in with seven points in the win.

Minnecahug 39, Northampton 26 - Samantha Barnes had seven points but the Blue Devils (9-6, 3-4 Valley Wheel) fell in Wilbraham.

It was the second loss in a row for Northampton, which remains one win shy from clinching a playoff birth.

Amherst Regional 65, Chicopee 40 - Brianna Leonard (24 points) led the way for the Hurricanes (12-2, 4-0 Suburban) in a blowout win at Chicopee.

Victoria Stewart had 14 points, while Kristen Ferola added 11 for Amherst.

Boys basketball

Hampshire Regional 55, Gateway Regional 38 - The Raiders (7-8) outscored the Gators (3-12) by 17 points in the second half to pull away from a tied game at the half.

Keith Cotnoir had a game-high 25 points, while Adam Laroche added 12 for Hampshire.

Austin Cook had 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks, while Curtis Dowers chipped in with 10 points for Gateway.

Commerce 58, Amherst Regional 37 - James Sowers led the Hurricanes (7-7) with 13 points in the independent home loss.

Tchuijo Nkamebo had a double-double for Amherst with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
