The South Hadley boys basketball team's 65-61 win over Sabis Thursday night put it one game under .500, but still clinched a playoff spot.

Luis Agrait's 17 points headlined three players in double figures as the Tigers (6-7, 2-1 Central) qualified for the Western Massachusetts Division 2 Tournament via the 70 percent rule.

Evan Marcus had 15 points in the win, while TJ Fitzell added 12. Anthony Bullough (eight points) grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.

Frontier Regional 51, Easthampton 47 - The Red Hawks (13-3, 12-3 Hampshire West) overcame a five-point deficit starting the fourth quarter to pick up the win in Easthampton.

Danny Kieras led Frontier with 14 points, while Paul Decker and Nate Perret added 13 apiece.

Chris Starcun scored a game-high 20 points with 11 rebounds for the Eagles (10-5, 8-5 Hampshire East), and Casey White had 15 points.

Frontier held a 10-point advantage at halftime, but Easthampton had a 19-4 run in the third.

Smith Academy 64, Mohawk Trail 44 - Mat Sulda scored 25 points and added five assists and four steals as the Falcons (13-3, 12-2 Hampshire West) won in Buckland.

Keith Natale added 15 points and 15 rebounds in the win.

Sulda needs eight points to reach 1,000 in his career. Smith plays Athol at 7 p.m. Monday in Hatfield.

Holyoke Catholic 66, Belchertown 55 - Nate Powers had 19 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks as the Gaels (5-9) were victorious at home.

Akhil Patel led all scorers with a career-high 22 points. Patel's previous high was seven, which he reached twice this season. Jeff LaPrade added 14 for Catholic. John McCoy had eight points and five assists.

Chris Ladd scored 20 points to lead the Orioles (12-4), while Tyler Verville (14) and Zach Parsons (10) also reached double figures.

Renaissance 51, Hampshire Regional 48 - The Raiders (6-8) were up seven and in good position to win with two minutes left, but the Phoenix caught fire and went on a 10-0 run to prevail by three.

Turnovers and missed opportunities led to the defeat for the Raiders, who missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Shane Andrews played well in defeat, leading all scorers with 20 points. Keith Cotnoir (eight points, 16 rebounds, five assists, five blocks) also had an all-around excellent game for the Raiders.

Granby 54, Monson 51 - The Rams (11-5) overcame a rough first quarter by outscoring the Mustangs 37-21 in the second half of the road victory.

Jesse Molin scored a game-high 14 points in the win, while Corey Baker added 11, including what proved to be the game-winning jumper with two minutes to play.

Tyler Ellard had eight points and a team-best 11 rebounds, and Aaron Gaj had eight points, nine boards, four steals, three blocks and two assists.

Northampton 46, Westfield 43 - Jared Murphy gave himself a priceless birthday gift by leading all players with 17 points and snagging a steal with five seconds left to clinch the game.

Murphy scored 11 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Blue Devils (8-7, 2-2 Suburban).

Jarrod Neumann (eight points, 14 rebounds) also performed well in the big league match.

Mahar Regional 71, Hopkins Academy 37 - Jacob Kosakowski scored nine points and Chris Koch added eight as the Golden Hawks (0-16, 0-13 Hampshire West) lost at home.

Southwick 61, Gateway Regional 37 - Austin Cook had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Gators (3-11) in the road loss.

Curtis Dowers scored 10 points for Gateway, while Calvin Dowers added eight.

Girls basketball


Granby 48, Holyoke Catholic 23 - The Rams (11-3) poured it on in the first quarter, putting the Gaels in a 12-point deficit they never recovered from.

Brooke Labrie (four steals) and Meghan Sullivan shared game-high honors with 12 points for the Rams.

Alyssa Boardway chipped in with 10 points, and Rebecca Sapoukey added four blocks on the defensive end.

Kyra Robins had nine points in defeat for the Gaels (7-9).

Westfield 60, Hampshire Regional 53 - Double-doubles by Sarah Kober and Brianna Weltlich wasn't enough for the Raiders (7-8) at home.

Kober scored a team-high 19 points to go with 12 rebounds, while Weltlich had 10 and 10.

Anna Dziok added 14 points for Hampshire, which had its three-game winning streak snapped.

Beka Santiago scored 28 points for the Bombers (2-11).
