Students to raise funds for cancer research

Students at Amherst Regional High School will be raising money for cancer research next week by selling "Canes for the Cure" T-shirts.

The Future Business Leaders of America will sell the shirts for $10 during lunch through next Thursday. Anyone wearing the shirt will receive free admission to the girls basketball game against Chicopee on Tuesday or the boys basketball game against East Longmeadow next Thursday. The shirts will also be for sale during the games.

All proceeds will go to the Cooley Dickinson Hospital's Cancer Care program. Local businesses have made donations to pay for the cost of the shirts.

Last year, the ARHS sale of T-shirts enabled the group to make a $3,000 donation to the hospital's cancer program.
