Piper Lacy of Shutesbury wins horse show series awards

The Western Massachusetts Horse Show Series 2011 Awards Banquet was held Jan. 15 in Northampton.

The series consists of five horse shows held from May to October. There was the Hilltown Hoofbeats 4-H Open Show, the Pocketful of Ponies Open Show, the Cummington Mustangs 4-H Club Open Show, the Hampshire County Riding Club Open show and the Massachusetts Horse Benefit Show.

Exhibitors who competed in at least three shows were eligible for year-end awards.

Piper Lacy, 11, of Shutesbury took home a couple of ribbons and a horse trophy.

Lacy rode Gallant Miss to high-point honors in the Discipline Rail classification. Lacy also placed first overall with 320 points in the Walt Trot Canter division.

Lacy rides at Sycamore Stables in South Amherst.
