Amherst Regional results: Girls basketball defeats Longmeadow

The girls basketball team defeated Longmeadow 67-56 Tuesday.

Victoria Stewart led the Hurricanes (11-2, 3-0 Suburban) with 19 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, four blocks and four steals. Forbasaw Nkamebo (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Brianna Leonard (15 points, 10 rebounds, five steals) also had double-doubles in the victory.

Hockey

Shelby Cutting and Jason Sloat each scored a goal for the Hurricanes (4-7-2, 1-2 Fay) in their 3-2 loss to Greenfield Monday at Collins-Moylan Rink in Greenfield.

Boys swimming

The Hurricanes (7-3, 3-3 Minuteman) won every event but two Tuesday in a 60-41 victory at East Longmeadow.

Walter Benson won both the 100 butterfly (1:02.77) and the 200 freestyle (1:57.94) for Amherst, while Marc Klepacki (200 individual medley, 2:15.28), Ciaran Dillon-Davidson (50 free, 24.26), Eric Chen (100 free, 54.95), Samson Braun (500 free, 5:51.85), and Harrison Wallace (100 breast, 1:17.27) each contributed an individual victory.

Girls swimming

Jovanna Robinson-Hidas won the diving competition Tuesday, but the Hurricanes (3-7, 1-5 Minuteman) lost 63-36 to East Longmeadow.

Robinson-Hidas had 144.15 points to take first. Joslyn Sullivan won the 100 back in 1:07.83, while Sophia Dillon-Davidson finished first in the 100 breast in 1:23.58.

Boys skiing

Jon Simonds just missed the top 10 in Tuesday's PVIAC slalom race at Berkshire East in Charlemont, finishing 11th with a time of 40.45 seconds.

As a team, the Hurricanes came in fourth in the North division with a total score of 187.25.
