EASTHAMPTON - Eileen M. (Flavin) Rivest, 64, of Easthampton, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2012, in Country Estates of Agawam.

She was born in Northampton, the daughter of James and Margaret (Leveille) Flavin.

Eileen attended the former Immaculate Conception School in Easthampton and the former St. Michaels High School in Northampton, class of 1964. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts School of Nursing and was a member of the National Honor Society.

She married Donald Rivest in 1970 and they made their home in Easthampton. Donald passed away in 2008.

She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church, now a member of Our Lady of the Valley Church. Eileen was a member of the Mass Nurse Association and also of Sigma Theta Tau.

She worked for Cooley Dickinson Hospital for 41 years as a nurse and nursing supervisor, retiring in 2008 as a certified radiation oncology nurse.

Surviving are a sister, Nancy Flavin of Easthampton; a brother, John Flavin of Florida; four sisters-in-law, Anne Marie Walton of Massachusetts, Denise Weeks and Madeline Yardis, both of Connecticut, and Dolores Flavin of Massachusetts; two godchildren, Holly Kenny of Connecticut and Zachary Walton of Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley Church, Easthampton, followed by burial in St. Brigids Cemetery, also in Easthampton. Calling hours will be at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Easthampton, Monday, Feb. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Eileen's memory may be given to the UMass Medical Development Office, Glioblastoma Research, 333 South St., Shrewsbury, MA 01545, or the UMass Athletic Department (Basketball), Room 308, Mullins Center, Amherst, MA 01003.
