Hampshire Regional junior Frankie Weir earned his 100th career victory en route to a second place finish Saturday at the Mountie Invitational in Williamstown.

Weir entered the event as the top seed at 152 pounds and cruised to the finals with two pins and a 7-3 victory over Kevin Mulligan of North Providence.

But the Raider settled for second place for the second straight year when he was outpointed by senior Eli Cooks of Colonie Central (N.Y.) 5-3 in the title bout.

Weir entered the event needing one pin to reach the milestone.

Hampshire finished fourth in the event with 125 points behind Colonie (265), North Providence (218) and host Mount Greylock (150). Northampton (76) was eighth, Granby (71) took 10th, Belchertown (18) finished 17th and Gateway (12) was 18th in the 19-team invitational.

Junior James Cupak of Granby took first place at 182 pounds. Cupak entered the event as the No. 1 seed and earned a pair of pins to reach the finals, where he beat Matt Massotti of North Providence 5-3.

Hamsphire freshman Brendan Weir (106 pounds) and junior John Lachowicz (285) each finished second in their respective weight classes. Fellow Raider Calvin Lachowicz, a senior, took third at 195. Junior Harrison Tremaine of Northampton was third at 285.

Freshman Charlie Humphrey (160) of Granby and senior Nathan Ghareeb (170) of Hampshire were both fourth-place finishers.

Rodney Smith Classic

South Hadley recorded two second-place finishes and two third-place finishes in the Rodney Smith Classic in Windsor, Conn., on Saturday.

Nick Rojas (145) and Chris Rojas (120) each took second in their respective weight classes, while Tom Antunes (106) and Carter Levreault (160) both finished third.
