Friday's girls basketball games: Hampshire Regional holds on for big win

The Hampshire Regional girls basketball team held on for an important 49-43 win Friday night at Belchertown as it attempts to qualify for the postseason.

Sarah Kober had 13 points and 19 rebounds, while Anna Dziok added 11 points for the Raiders (6-7, 3-1 Bi-County East), which moved one step closer to 10 wins and stayed in the hunt for a league championship.

Téa Spellacy had 14 points and four steals for the Orioles (7-7, 2-2), who pulled within a possession numerous times in the second half but could never break through.

The Raiders used timely 3-pointers and key free throws to stay one step ahead.

Northampton 67, Ludlow 52 - Samantha Barnes scored 22 points with 14 rebounds as the Blue Devils (9-4, 3-2 Valley Wheel) won at home to move to within a victory of clinching a tournament berth.

Anna Moore also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. Susan Bell scored 13 and hit a pair of key 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and Anna Walther added 12 points with seven steals.

Amherst 73, Westfield 36 - The Hurricanes (10-2, 2-0 Suburban) clinched a postseason berth with the win at home.

Brianna Leonard led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Victoria Stewart had 14 points and eight assists for the defending Western Massachusetts Division 1 Tournament champions.

Forbasaw Nkamebo added 12 points, and Kristin Ferola added 10 points and nine assists.

Hopkins Academy 40, Frontier Regional 34 - Olivia Mathieu scored 17 and Emma Koniczny added 10 as the Golden Hawks (10-4, 10-2 Franklin South) qualified for the postseason with the win in South Deerfield.

Amanda Calvo matched Mathieu with 17 for the Red Hawks (7-6, 7-5), who played without starters Sydney Judge and Olivia Riordan. Kacey Roberts added 11 points in the loss.

Granby 64, South Hadley 49 - The Rams (9-3, 2-2 Bi-County Central) put together an 18-2 run down the stretch to pick up the home victory and move within a win of securing a tournament berth

Rebecca Sapoukey had team-highs in points with 15 and rebounds with 11, while Alyssa Boardway scored 14 and grabbed nine boards.

Brooke Labrie added 10 points and played outstanding on the defensive end.

Meg Ginley led the Tigers (5-6, 1-2) with a game-high 16 points, while Megan Lynes added 11.

Gateway Regional 51, St. Mary 16 - Ally Brown scored a game-high 11 points as the Gators (10-1, 10-0 Tri-County) remained perfect in league play with the home victory.

Brooke Fairman and Chelsi Derrig added seven points for Gateway, while Paige Fairman scored six.

Smith Vocational 38, Dean Tech 15 - Nashaelid Cintron led all scorers with 18 points in the victory for the Vikings (2-10, 2-7 Tri-County) in Holyoke.

Cintron had five of the team's six 3-pointers. Megan Shain scored nine points in the win for Smith Voke, which allowed three or fewer points in three separate quarters.
