Neumann powers Northampton past Sci-Tech in boys basketball

Jarrod Neumann's double-double helped the Northampton boys basketball team stay on track with a 62-49 win over Sci-Tech on Friday night in Springfield.

Neumann had 23 points and 13 rebounds as the Blue Devils (5-6) won their third straight game.

Jared Murphy added 13 points in the victory, while Ben Christopher had 10.

Central 71, Amherst Regional 45 - Tyler Peake had a team-high 15 points on five 3-pointers in the loss for the Hurricanes (5-5) in Springfield.

Marcus Rivera and James Sowers added seven apiece for Amherst.

Tyrell Springer surpassed the career 1,000-point milestone with his game-high 19 points for Central (9-1).

Monson 49, Hampshire Regional 32 - Keith Cotnoir was the lone player to reach double figures for the Raiders (4-7) with 11 points in the road loss.

Shane Andrews added nine points for Hampshire.

Chicopee 60, South Hadley 42 - Luis Agrait scored 20 points, but the Tigers (3-6) fell at home.

Girls basketball

Hopkins Academy 61, Turners Falls 26 - Olivia Mathieu scored a game-high 17 points as the Golden Hawks (8-4, 8-2 Franklin South) cruised in Montague.

Kate Sullivan added 13, while twin sister Mackenzie Sullivan had 11 for Hopkins, which has won four of its last five games.

Mahar 64, Frontier Regional 29 - Courtney Parent scored a team-high seven points for the Red Hawks, who had their four-game winning streak broken by the undefeated Senators (11-0, 10-0 Franklin North) in Orange.

Olivia Riordan added six points for Frontier (6-4, 6-4 Franklin South).

Gateway Regional 44, Franklin Tech 25 - The Gators (8-1, 8-0 Tri-County) built a 15-point lead after one quarter and cruised to the home win to remain perfect in league play.

Brooke Fairman led all scorers with 12 points, while Chelsea Merritt added nine in the victory. Paige Fairman (four points) had a team-best 16 rebounds.

Pathfinder 44, Smith Vocational 10 - Megan Shain led the Vikings (1-9, 1-6 Tri-County) with five points in the loss in Palmer.
