ALEXANDER COOLEY and BRITTANY BAUMANN

Paul Baumann of Sheffield and Rose Baumann of Great Barrington announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Sage Baumann of Hadley, to Alexander Shepard Cooley, also of Hadley. Cooley is the son of Daniel and Sylvia Cooley of Amherst.

Baumann is a special education teacher at Jackson Street Elementary School in Northampton. A 2003 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School in Great Barrington, she received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2007 and a master's degree in special education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2009.

Cooley is a firefighter with the Greenfield Fire Department, an emergency dispatcher for the city of Northampton and a seaman in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. A 2003 graduate of Amherst Regional High School, he received a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, Calif., in 2007.

A May 26, 2012, wedding is planned.
