Kestrel Trust offers workshops on options to preserve land
WESTHAMPTON - Landowners who want to explore options on long-term ownership will have a chance to study the options at a two-session program planned for Jan. 11 and 25, "Your Land, Your Plan," hosted by the Kestrel Land Trust.
People are asked to register for both workshops, which will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Westhampton Public Library at 1 North Road, Westhampton.
Organizers say the program seeks to help participants get a grasp on the question of what will become of their land when they are no longer there to take care of it.
The evenings will explain how estate plans help people ensure that their assets - including land - are eventually distributed according to their wishes. Topics will include taxes, trusts and land conservation. A light dinner will be served.
To register, call 549-1097 or email office@kestreltrust.org.
Kestrel's partners in the program are the Trustees of Reservations' Highland Communities Initiative, UMass Extension, the Hilltown and Franklin land trusts, CISA, the Westhampton Open Space Committee, the state Department of Conservation and Recreation and the U.S. Forest Service.
