UMass hockey stuns No. 13 Cornell in Everblades Classic
It wasn't a true road game, but the University of Massachusetts hockey team finally got a win away from the Mullins Center as the Minutemen battered one of the nation's best goalies and upset No. 13 Cornell 5-2 in the Florida Everblades Classic in Estero.

Conor Sheary, who had two goals and two assists, extended UMass' lead to 4-2 before T.J. Syner added an empty-net goal to seal the win.
"It was a game against a good opponent and you're going to have to play close to the top of your game if you're going to have any chance to succeeding," UMass coach Toot Cahoon said. "I thought our guys played pretty hard most of the night. ... I thought it was a good first step. We have a chance to play for a championship trophy. Let's see if we can make the most of our opportunity."
Kevin Boyle made 27 saves, including one on Greg Miller's breakaway bid with the result still in doubt late in the third period, for the Minutemen.
Cornell goalie Andy Iles entered the game second in the nation with a 1.62 goals against average and a shutout streak of 152 minutes, 36 seconds. Iles had shutouts in five of his last six games, but the Minutemen solved him often. He finished with 25 saves.
