Northampton indoor track fairs well at Team Pentathlon
The Northampton girls indoor track & field team placed fourth at the Team Pentathlon Thursday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
The team of Adrienne Pascucci, Meghan Harrington, Leah Tompkins, Sage Loomis and Joni Sullivan combined for 2,584 points.
Marshfield won followed by Old Rochester and Milton.
Pascucci placed third in the 55-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 9.31 seconds. Tompkins tied for first in the high jump at 4-feet, 11¾ inches.
The Northampton boys team of Josh Hirschman, Avi Sheldon, Marcus Neverson, Ives Fisher and Alex Sullivan placed fifth in the event with 2,793 points. Newton North won followed by Framingham, Old Rochester and Wareham.
Sullivan placed third in the 1,000 in 2:37.16.
The pentathlon included the 55 hurdles, the shot put, high jump and long jump. The girls ran the 800, while the boys ran the 1,000.
The Hamp girls also competed in the Holiday Qualifier Thursday at Lewis Center.
The 4x400 relay team of Pascucci, Sophie Sharp, Alex Dibrindisi and Mia Toffoli ran the second-fastest time (4:14.66) in the state and won by five seconds.
Pascucci also placed fourth in the long jump in 15-7½, a personal best and fourth all-time at Northampton.
