Parenting workshops offer advice on raising young children

EASTHAMPTON - The Collaborative for Educational Services is offering help to parents trying to figure out the mysteries of raising young children.

A series of free workshops called "The Puzzle of Parenting" continues Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Easthampton High School with a session on "Sleep Worries." Aimed at parents, grandparents and guardians of children from birth to kindergarten age, the workshop will offer advice on what to do if a child isn't sleeping well.

Each month through May, a different parenting workshop will be held at the high school on topics suggested by local parents. A session on Feb. 15 is titled, "You Showed Each Other What? Typical Sexuality Development of Preschool Children."

Workshops in the series will also be offered in Belchertown and Hatfield and free child care is available at most locations. A complete schedule is available online at www.collaborative.org/early-childhood/parents. To make a reservation, call 570-3061.

The Northampton-based Collaborative is a nonprofit educational services agency that has been serving local communities since 1974. The "Puzzle of Parenting" series is funded by a grant from the state Department of Early Education and Care.
