Comments: There were more early highs than in recent history this season for The Battle of the Bridge rivalry contestants, but both squads enter their seventh Thanksgiving Day contest on losing streaks. Northampton was once 2-1, but has lost seven straight due to serious offensive struggles. Amherst, meanwhile, was 3-2, but has lost four in a row. Both teams have shown flashes during their struggles, as Hamp scared Westfield and Amherst entered the fourth quarter against West Springfield tied before falling. Northampton leads the series 4-2, but Amherst won last year.

Belchertown at Pathfinder

Today, 10 a.m.

Records: Orioles (8-2); Pioneers (6-4)

Last game: Belchertown downed Greenfield 43-24 on Nov. 15; Pathfinder beat Easthampton 21-0 on Nov. 18

Comments: Belchertown is already locked into the Division 3 playoffs, but could improve to the second seed or even win a league title with a victory here and some help. The Orioles have won three straight entering their regular season finale and have been led all season by standout senior quarterback Chris Ladd, who has tallied more than 2,000 combined passing and rushing yards. Belchertown leads the turkey day series 6-4 and has won two in a row against the Pioneers, who need a victory to qualify for the Division 4 playoffs.

Easthampton at Dean Tech

Today at Holyoke High, 10:30 a.m.

Records: Eagles (4-6, 3-4 Tri-County); Golden Hawks (0-9, 0-7)

Last game: Easthampton lost to Pathfinder 21-0 on Nov. 18; Dean lost to Ware 12-6 on Nov. 18

Defense#18.5#Defense#35.1

Comments: The defending Division 4 champion Eagles' postseason hopes were dashed in the loss to Pathfinder. Still, Easthampton will try to improve to 3-0 in what has been a lopsided turkey day rivalry so far. The Eagles have outscored Dean 100-6 in the two-game series so far and certainly won't be in a charitable mood after being shut out in their last game. Easthampton's offense hasn't been as explosive as in its best years, but the Eagles are certainly capable of putting up some big numbers against a struggling Dean Tech squad.

Chicopee Comp at South Hadley

Records: Colts (0-9, 0-5 Intercounty); Tigers (3-6, 2-3)

Last week: Chicopee Comp lost to Chicopee 26-2 on Nov. 14; South Hadley lost to Putnam 22-12 on Nov. 11

ColtsTigers

Offense#10.4#Offense#27.0

Defense#38.8#Defense#20.1

Comments: A rough start cost the defending Division 2 champion Tigers a shot at the postseason in Eric Scammons' first year as head coach. Instead, they'll look to finish their season by improving to 10-2 against the Colts on turkey day. South Hadley has been competitive against good teams, losing to Holyoke by five, West Springfield and East Longmeadow by three each, Chicopee by two and Putnam by 10. A big day from Connor Doran (850 yards) would get him to the 1,000-yard mark for the Tigers, who have beaten Comp seven straight years.
