Wind, rain, sleet, snow and the Holyoke defense all weren't enough to slow down the Smith Academy field hockey team Thursday night.

The Falcons battled the conditions and hammered the Purple Knights 8-0 under the lights in Holyoke.

"They went out there and treated it like another day playing field hockey," Smith coach Dena Polverari said. "It didn't faze them at all."

Emiko Barker (one assist), Danielle Duseau and Jen Adamites each scored twice in the win.

"They just go out there and get the job done," Polverari said. "They have a job to do and they go out and do it."

Alyssa Woodward and Kelly Ryan added one goal each.

Lauren Bradford made one save for her fourth shutout of the season.
