South Hadley field hockey shuts out Northampton; Frontier still unbeaten

Juliette Chenier scored on a penalty stroke in the 35th minute and Dominique Wilkins added an insurance goal late in the game as the South Hadley field hockey team defeated visiting Northampton 2-0 Wednesday.

Lindsay Conner assisted on Wilkins' goal.

Liz Menard made 10 saves for her fifth shutout of the season for the Tigers (8-7-2, 6-1-2 Central).

Mary Greco made nine saves for the Blue Devils (14-3-1, 8-2), who have lost three of their last four games since starting the year 13-0-1.

Northampton beat South Hadley 5-3 in the teams' first meeting Sept. 13.

Frontier Regional 3, Mohawk Trail 0 - Kacey Roberts scored two goals as the Red Hawks (15-0-2, 6-0-2 North) remained unbeaten with the win at home.

Brie Cook added the third goal. Emily Williams had two assists and Hannah Woodring also had one.

Gwen Thayer recorded four saves for Frontier, which wraps up its regular season at home against Greenfield on Friday at 7 p.m.
