Amherst Regional field hockey holds Longmeadow to scoreless tie

The Amherst Regional field hockey team earned its biggest point of the season Tuesday when it tied Longmeadow 0-0 at home.

Katherine Kayser-Hirsh made eight saves to blank the perennial power for the Hurricanes (2-6-3, 1-3-2 South). Longmeadow (12-0-2) is 5-0-1 in the league.

Midfielders Elaina Darby and Ashlyn Savage played well for Amherst, which had its strongest game of the season according to coach Carol Samuels.

Smith Academy 0, Mohawk 0 - Lauren Bradford stopped two shots and the Falcons (5-5-2, 3-1-1 North) displayed a strong defense in the road tie.
